A NEW ERA OF LUXURY FOOTWEAR

Shugo is a luxury footwear and apparel brand for baseball players founded by Marcus Stroman. I was approached by Shugo to create a custom illustration for the star pitcher’s game-day cleat to be worn in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Marcus Stroman was born in the United States, but his mother is of Puerto Rican descent. This made him eligible to represent the Puerto Rican National team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Marcus wanted to celebrate his Puerto Rican heritage, by creating a custom ball cleat with influences by Puerto Rican culture; such as the Flor da Maga, the Coquí and other elements in honour of his mother.
